Education shapes who our children become.

And who they become shapes our community.

Candidate for Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board Trustee

Hi, I'm Jacquelyn.

I’m a former teacher, a parent of two young children in Peterborough’s Catholic school system, and an experienced organizational leader; but more than anything, I’m someone with deep roots in this community.

I grew up in Ennismore, and for much of my life, supporting young people and families has been a common thread in what I do.

For ten years, I refereed hockey in our community, dedicating countless evenings and weekends to a sport that taught me just as much about leadership, fairness, accountability and character as it did about the game.

As a certified teacher, I entered education because I believed deeply in the potential of every child and that they are our future. From 2015–2017, I worked closely with children and families through tutoring, listening to parents talk about where their children were thriving, and where they were struggling. I moved toward small-group teaching because I could see firsthand how difficult it was for children to get the individualized attention they needed in larger classroom environments.

Currently, and for the past three years, I’ve carried that commitment to families into the nonprofit sector, where I work with families navigating disability and complex systems. That experience has deepened my understanding of how important it is for families to feel heard, respected and supported; particularly when they are advocating for the individual needs of their child.

Today, I experience education from another seat: as a mom.

I’m now the parent trusting our Catholic school system with two of the people who matter most to me. I see the incredible influence educators have on our children, and I understand the questions, hopes and concerns parents carry when they send their children through those doors each morning.

All of these experiences; growing up here, teaching, refereeing, supporting families, leading organizations and now raising my own children here have shaped what I believe.

Our schools are strongest when educators have the support to teach. When parents are welcomed as meaningful partners. When students are listened to and known as individuals. When decisions are transparent and accountable.

When our Catholic values are reflected not only in what we teach, but in how we treat people and how we lead.

This community helped shape who I am.  Now, I want to give back to the community that gave so much to me and help ensure our schools remain places where children are known, families have a voice, and educators have the support they need to help students thrive.

That’s why I’m putting my name forward to serve as your next PVNCCDSB Trustee.

Our Shared Values

Faith & Values

Our Catholic faith provides a foundation for developing compassionate, responsible and values-driven young people.

Human Centered Learning

Children learn through relationships and experiences. Foster learning experiences that prioritizes human connection, conversation, movement, creativity, hands-on experiences and time to explore—with technology used intentionally as a tool, not the centre of childhood.

Transparency & Accountability

Trust grows when families understand how decisions are made, how resources are used and how we measure progress. Strong governance should be open, thoughtful and accountable to the community it serves.

Parents as Partners

Parents bring an essential perspective to their children's education. Strong relationships between families and schools create stronger communities and better outcomes for children.
